In the 18th and 19th century, metal plaques called fire insurance marks with the emblem of an insurance company were attached to the front of an insured building as a guide to the insurance company's fire brigade. This was before there were a municipal fire services. This particular fire mark was for the Fireman's Insurance Company.

The shirt is good quality and fits just fine, but the colors of the printing are not as bright as in the sample photo. Not the best. The colors are a lot brighter in the sample photo; when I received the shirt they appeared faded. The red looks a little more pink and the blue is a lot lighter. N.B. I did not wash the shirt yet.
