Is there anything better than the red, the white, and the blue? This nation emerged as a result of those who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps. It was fearless people with grit and determination who carved out the landscapes and cisterns of this nation that is now the envy of the world. Our nation’s Bill of Rights guarantees all who will - the rights of liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness. Yet, beneath the foot of this Washingtonian-like figure lies a symbol of all those who lived in this land and have come to these shores who have not experienced the promised inalienable rights, inherent to all the country’s citizens. Is that why he is urging silence? Has the history of abuse, the dual system of government now become unable to conceal? Perhaps a glance into Native, African, Chinese, Japanese, Hispanic, Jewish, or selective Caucasian Americans, and cultural groups might reveal the need for our imposing figure to implore all towards silence.
