American Samoa National Park, officially known as the National Park of American Samoa, is a unique and remote treasure in the U.S. National Park system. Located in the South Pacific, it is the only U.S. national park situated south of the equator. The park spans three islands—Tutuila, Ofu, and Ta‘ū—covering approximately 13,500 acres, with more than 4,000 of those acres underwater. It was established in 1988 to protect the area’s lush rainforests, coral reefs, and rich Samoan culture. What makes this park particularly special is its partnership with local communities.
