Ancient Hebrew Golden Coin Necklace

The writing is in ancient Hebrew letters. It means: "(of) holy Jerusalem". This is a picture of one side of the "half-shekel" silver coin from Bar-Kokhba Revolt, the year was 68. In ancient times, the half-shekel coin was used in order to count people, because of an old custom in the Jewish culture according to which counting people is brings bad luck. That way, each half-a-shekel coin represented a person in both regular population counts, and for holding massive religious practices. The number 3 is an important one in Jewish history: culture and religion. That is why there are three pomegranates in the picture, and the of crown in each is made out of three leaves. In the jewish culture, the pomegranate symbolizes beauty, good deeds, wisdom, profusion and blessing.
