The first design in the set, "The Twelve Cats of Christmas" by Jane Sayre Denny, spoofing the famous song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" wherein on each of the 12 days before Christmas, "my true love sent to me..." some wild animal or unruly mob. Our designs replace each day's gift with cats... much preferable, we think, to the cacophony of noisy birds and mayhem in the song. I mean, if he was really my true love, shouldn't he have sent cats? And since cats do things their own way, the festivities are not what you expect! In the first measure of our song we trade the famous Partridge in a Pear Tree for a Persian in a Pear Tree. The full set includes: 12 Cats Drumming, 11 Cats Piping, 10 Cats a-Leaping, 9 Kitties Prancing, 8 Manx a-Milking, 7 Swats (No Swimming), 6 Cats a-Laying, 5 Golden Cats, 4 Calling Cats, 3 French Cats, 2 Tortoise Shell Cats, and of course, A Persian in a Pear Tree. A portion of all proceeds go to feed homeless and rescued cats in NYC.
