Angel in Pink & White: Christmas Paperweight

This item displays a picture of a high relief figure from Naples that is titled merely, "Angel." It was created in the 1700s. However, there are many similar sculptures from the same area and time period titled, "Angel" in existence. To distinguish them, the titles have been slightly altered for this shop. It is possible that Giuseppe Sammartino is responsible for head of this figure. There is a quiet sense of beauty about this angel. One can see that the sculptor was very talented. The sleeves and the bottom of the dress were constructed in a way to convey movement…something is in motion. It may be the angel (with its large wings), the wind, or both.
