Antique American c1890 Trent Portrait Tile Repro
The Trent Tile Company manufactured tiles in Newark, NJ from 1883 to 1902. This lovely pale green tile depicts a woman with a Neoclassical hairstyle and large hoop earring. The tile looks as 3-dimensional as the original is but this one is actually flat, printed in a trompe l'oeil ("fool the eye") style that captures all of the carved detail of the original at a small fraction of the $250 to $300 price the originals command, even with chips and cracks.
