Apache Motel Sign, Tucumcari, New Mexico Photo Print

Apache Motel Sign, Tucumcari, New Mexico Photo Print

"Apache Motel Sign, Tucumcari, New Mexico" by Catherine Sherman. The Apache Motel opened in Tucumcari, New Mexico, in 1964 along the famous highway Route 66. It later closed, was purchased for renovation, but apparently it was never reopened for business. This photograph was taken in April 2014. The motel is next door to the "Kix on 66" restaurant. U.S. Route 66 (US 66 or Route 66), also known as the Will Rogers Highway and as the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. Route 66 was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). It was recognized in popular culture by both the hit song "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" and the Route 66 television show in the 1960s. Route 66 was the main road for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway, and those same people later fought to keep the highway alive in the face of the growing threat of being bypassed by the new Interstate Highway System. Route 66 underwent many improvements and realignments over its lifetime, and it was officially removed from the United States Highway System on June 27, 1985, after it had been completely replaced by the Interstate Highway System. Portions of the road that passed through Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico, and Arizona have been designated a National Scenic Byway of the name "Historic Route 66", which is returning to some maps. Several states have adopted significant bypassed sections of the former US 66 into the state road network as State Route 66.

Ordered this as a surprise for my nephew’s first birthday. It came out beautiful! So many joyful tears were she’d when it was unwrapped. Why then did I give this 4 stars? I made three attempts to order this through the app on my iPhone. First time, got all the pics loaded, clicked to resize it and lost everything. I tried again, this time, when I clicked on the “add to cart” button, the button froze and I couldn’t buy it. I nearly gave up. Three days later, I tried one more time and it went through that time. On a positive note, the collage came in record time, arriving the day before the party, though it was scheduled to arrive afterward. Overall, excellent product. High quality, well worth the $$$. Gorgeous!!! Paper quality is superb! Colors are vibrant! Everything is aligned beautifully. Only flaw, the picture had a 2 in scratch directly through the main photo. It’s an obvious scratch, one I was initially very bothered by. The sender had to have seen it and yet, still mailed it as it. I would have asked for a new one had I not needed to gift it the very next day. Otherwise, it’s stunning. I would definitely purchase again.

This is one super nice item! It is a great work of art for my wall. It would make a great framed gift too! The weight of the paper used, being Kodak paper, is spot on perfect! The printing of this fine work of art photo is top notch gallery worthy all the way!

Beautiful! High quality, semi-gloss, nice weight paper. Wonderful Bible verse and just such a lovely watercolor! BE AWARE: White border around the artwork included in size. My 8.5x11" print has a 1/2" white border. The actual artwork is 7.5x10 inches I had not understood this before; however, it was just as pictured on Zazzle. I had planned on matting, so this will workout perfectly when done! :). High quality, nice weight paper, clear print, good color
