Arabic Geometric Pattern Wooden Effect Watch
I have always been quite fascinated by M.C Escher's artistic work, including his work on tessellations inspired by Arabic geometric designs, as seen in both tiled and painted walls from mosques, and in illuminated Qurans.
I think it's a beautiful aesthetic, and I have made a few designs based on the ideas of its sacred geometry.
When I was working on this relatively simple pattern, with a division of twelve, I thought it would be perfect for a clockface, and so I added markers for minutes and hours and filled the shapes with my detailed scans of wooden veneers for a nice, organic look.
