Born on October 10th, 1560 Jacobus Arminius was a Dutch Theologian during the Reformation. Today he is known for is theological views that stood in opposition to the teachings of John Calvin, who believed that God determines who will be saved and who will me damned to hell. In contrast Arminius taught that God divinely enables every person to make a decision of the will to accept or reject Jesus Christ. Thus God sovereignly decreed that salvation would be given to sinners on the condition of faith and the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is given to all people.
