Aruba Flag Holiday Ms. Penguin Talking Leggings

Mr. Penguin, Auntie Shoe's good buddy, took a well deserved vacation to Aruba. He enjoyed the sandy beaches and took the time to shop for a new vest. Of course, he got one of the Aruban flag. He loves the light blue on the background. (which is called LARKSPUR, for those that are taking notes.) According to Wikipedia, it represents the sky ( duh!), the sea, and hope and peace. The yellow stripes near the bottom are just lovely, That color, also according to Wikipedia, is called BUNTING YELLOW. They represent many thing. Among them are the gold and other minerals that were once plentiful on Aruba. In addition they are said to represent the sun and the WANGLO flower. Mr. Penguin thinks the four pointed red star with the white outline, which is a bit off center and near the top is just sooooo cool he can't stand it. It, too has a meaning on the flag. The white is for the lovely Aruban beaches, as well as purity and honesty. Having four points, the star also represent the four major directions from which all the peoples of Aruba originated. The red in the star is meant to symbolize the redness of the soil, as well as the blood shed by Arubans, the native inhabitants, under French rule. Lastly, the red star with the white border on the blue background represents the island of Aruba itself. A red-soiled island with white sandy beaches in the middle of a blue sea. Cool, huh!?
