Atlantic City Train Station PRSL 1936 Large Clock

Atlantic City Train Station PRSL 1936 Large Clock

From www.railphotoexpress.biz In the 1920s it was clear to all that the competition and duplication were ruinous, for the railroads, particularly for traffic, both freight and passenger, that could easily be diverted to the highways. On March 4, 1931, New Jersey's public utility regulators ordered the two railroad companies, The Pennsylvania Railroad and The Reading Railroad Lines, to join their southern New Jersey railroad lines into one company. Atlantic City Union Train Station was opened on October 23, 1934. The Consolidation Agreement had decreed that the Pennsylvania Railroad had two-thirds ownership, and the Reading Company had one-third ownership of PRSL. PRSL's business, largely passenger, dwindled to a handful of Camden-Atlantic City and Camden-Wildwood/Ocean City/Cape May RDC runs, and they eventually terminated their runs at Lindenwold, end of the PATCO rapid transit line, instead of Camden. On July 1, 1982, the last of those runs, by then operated by Conrail, were replaced by buses because of a federally imposed track speed limit of 15 mph. PRSL properties were conveyed to Conrail on April 1, 1976. In 1965 after the building of the Atlantic City Expressway, Atlantic City Union Station was torn down.

Great price for a very nice product. Arrived a day early - unheard of these days. The outside gold area has a little more orange tone to it than shown in the picture. Great packing so product can't get damaged. I used the same packing to forward the clock to my brother and sister-on-law for the 50th wedding anniversary. Printing was just as expected - lovely!

My 93- yr. old Dad has everything.....and now including a clock with pictures of him in action! Was initially a bit difficult to size & position the pictures in each space, but the end product was worth the effort. He enjoyed it and it was definitely a unique way of memorializing good times in his life. Quality of print was good.
