ATOMIC VETERAN T-SHIRT Nuclear Test

Atomic Veterans are U.S.military veterans who were exposed to ionizing radiation during their active service. It includes thousands of American servicemen who took part in atmospheric nuclear tests (1945-1962). It also includes veterans who were stationed in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the American occupation of Japan before 1946 (including certain veterans who were prisoners of war there). The U.S. government realizes that high doses of radiation can cause increased incidence of many cancers and genetic mutations. The government acknowledges that at least twenty-one cancers and related illnesses could have resulted form the atomic fallout. These Atomic Veterans are a forgotten group, who many feel were used as guinea pigs. Children and spouses of these Veterans may also suffer many illnesses and congenital conditions. As a son of an Atomic Veteran who assisted the Japanese in Hiroshima after the bomb, I am but one family member of many of the estimated 185,000 Atomic Veterans.
