Badlands, South Dakota Magnet

The beauty of the badlands is captured in this color photo taken during our visit to the Badlands National Park in South Dakota. Colorful bands of rock strata can be seen in the eroding buttes, pinnacles and spires of the rugged landscape. National grasslands of mixed-grass prairie, can be seen in the foreground. The green of a grassy plateau, near the top of the rocky outcropping, completes the panoramic view, in the distance; while the sun, low in the sky, fills the crevasses with deep shadows.
