Beautiful Band-Tailed Pigeon in My Backyard Trivet

Use this whimsical, wildlife-themed trivet to protect delicate surfaces, tables, and countertops from hot pots, or as an accent piece for the dining room or kitchen. Third time (and third day!) was finally the charm with the reclusive Band-Tailed Pigeon, North America's largest pigeon. A small, paparazzi-shy, and unusually late-migrating flock of 8 of these purple forest pigeons has been in the neighborhood for 2 days, but this one finally consented to having its photo taken through a window on a fine spring morning as it perched on the shepherd's crook (after very quietly flying onto one of the 100-foot tall Douglas Firs in the backyard)!
