Bertuccio's Bride (by Edward Robert Hughes) Tissue Paper

This design features a painting by the British artist Edward Robert Hughes (1851–1914). The painting is based on the old Italian story of Bertuccio, who has freed a maiden from robbers who were attacking her, but the maiden turned out to be a princess, and Bertuccio seeks the help of knight in order to marry her. Bertuccio can be seen here offering his wedding gifts to the knight in return for his support. The knight is wearing a blue cloak and he is leaning on a long silver sword. The bride can be seen wearing a white wedding dress in the background; she looks shocked by the scene. All three characters are in a woodland landscape. Distant mountains can be seen behind them, and the sky is bright red with a sunset.
