From my collage series, A Basin of Birds, the birds of the Yolo Basin and beyond. In creating this collage I searched old magazines for textures and colors to use as “paint” for each collage. Microscopic images may form the trunks of trees. A photo of the sea or a map of the world becomes the sky. Buildings may become stones in a landscape. Feathers may be formed from photos of cave walls, desert sands or night skies.
