Blair Castle – Murray Clan T-Shirt

Blair Castle, the ancestral home of the Murray clan, is located near the village of Blair Atholl in Perthshire, Scotland. The Murray clan descends from Freskin, also father of the Sutherland clan. Freskin was a Flemish nobleman who was given land in northeastern Scotland by King David. The Murrays descend through the younger grandson of Freskin, William de Moravia, or Moray. Bothwell Castle was constructed in the 13th century for its strategic location and switched hands numerous times during the Wars of Scottish Independence in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. The clan’s historical home is Bothwell Castle. The castle is located along the A9, in the central Scottish Highlands and is a category A listed building. It’s grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens. Blair Castle is owned by Bruce Murray, 12th Duke of Atholl, who lives in South Africa.
