Blue Crane or Heron, 1836, The Birds of America Tapestry

This is a remastered reproduction version of the Blue Crane or Heron, 1836, Plate Plate CCCVII, based on the series “Birds of America” by John James Audubon (1785 - 1851). The original image was set in a location near Charleston, SC. Robert Havell (1793 - 1878) engraved, printed, and colored the original version. Creating the original vintage prints employed hand-colored engraving techniques and the aquatint process on Whatman wove paper. The original Birds of America book is very expensive because of the limited number of original books published and their popularity. The bookplates are incredible and awe-inspiring classics. This version has been digitally remastered and enhanced. Vibrant colors were introduced to this enhanced version. New fonts have been substituted for the original fonts, which were of poor quality and did not enhance well. The new fonts provide clarity and crispness to the image. The borders on this remastered version have also been expanded to make them more uniform.
