Bodhisattva T-Shirt

Bodhisattva is a Sanskrit term which translates as: Bodhi [enlightenment] and sattva [being]. A Bodhisattva practices compassion and will undergo any type of suffering to help another sentient being, whether a tiny insect or a huge mammal. The cartoon Boddhisattva on this T-shirt is that of Guan Yin, or sometimes called "Goddess of Mercy", whom was said to have thousand hands and thousand eyes. She uses these to reach out and help beings that are suffering. Master Cheng Yen, the founder of Tzu Chi Foundation once said that when we help others in need, we act as the thousand hands and eyes of this Bodhisattva Guan Yin. In the Chinese culture, those who always do good deeds and help others are praised as "Live Bodhisattvas", or "Having the heart of a Bodhisattva". Hence, whenever you help others, you too, are considered a Bodhisattva, because by practising compassion, you're walking the Boddhisattva path, which will ultimately lead you to enlightenment.
