The hours are indicated by bullet holes from a small bore rifle. A single bullet hole for one o'clock and so on. Hitting the bulls-eye was clearly not the aim in this instance!

I bought this as a Christmas present for my husband who is a big gun enthusiast. He has is up on the wall on his cottage industry, WTP (We The People) Cartridge Company. Quality is superb. If possible I'd give it a 10 rating. Everything about the clock was perfect, I'd like to see it offered in a larger size though.
