Not many fish are more incredibly beautiful than the blue marlin -- and not many fish are larger. The blue marlin is the largest of the Atlantic marlins and, seriously, one of the biggest fish in the world. As with some species, the female is often quite a bit larger than the male. Females can grow up to 14 feet long and can weigh more than 1,900 pounds, though the average runs more around 11 feet long and 300-ish pounds. A deep blue on top and silvery-white beneath, with a pronounced dorsal fin and a long, lethal, spear-shaped upper jaw (that some refer to as a bill), blue marlins are one of the most easily identifiable and recognizable fish in the world. Marlins are renown for their incredible stamina in a fight when they are hooked, which makes them a trophied favorite of big game fishermen. Though it can also be said of virtually any super big fish, I can't imagine there's much more thrilling to the avid angler than hooking one of these giants and seeing it break water in the fight. This design pays homage more to this majestic fish than the anglers that seek it. For this wonderful bunting banner, each swallowtail element has been individually put together.
