An artwork inspired by Welsh Calennig apple traditions. It seems that in many parts of the world the winter festivities, originally celebrating the Solstice, were moved around by state and religious leaders: to distance from the pagan traditions, to purify Christianity, to forget Christianity, to move from one calendar to another... That's one force. Another is constant struggle between people who want to enjoy themselves at various occasions and puritans of all sorts who can't stand fun, indulgence and mischief. To the people who say that we cannot celebrate when others are suffering I can only respond that in this case we never can celebrate. And if we sit sad and lonely then the monsters who want to suck all the joy from the world already won. This year I am having my Cinderella's dream ball: watching wild celebrations around the globe while having almost usual day at home, cooking and washing. And maybe that's not too bad either. Oh, and I learned to make Welsh Calennig apples and that was fun. Happy New Year! Peace and prosperity to all good people.
