The best time to send out invitations is typically 2-3 months before the event for small or medium sized events. For example, you’d want to send out your holiday party invitations 2-3 months ahead of time. You’ll want to order your invitations about 2 weeks before you send them out, so the best time to order your invitations from us is about 2.5-3.5 months ahead of time. This allows your guests to plan accordingly and helps to maximize the chance that a guest can come.

For large events like weddings, you’ll want to give your invitees more notice than for standard events. Order your wedding invitations and envelopes about 4.5-6.5 months in advance to send your invitations 4-6 months before the special day.

When you order invitations from us, we’ll include appropriate-sized white envelopes based on the size of the invitations of your purchase. However, if you don’t want or already have envelopes and want to just receive the invitations, you can opt out of receiving the envelopes.

You can also order envelopes with different designs instead of plain white envelopes if you want your envelopes to have special designs.

Yes, you can print on the back of your invitation for free! Most designs already have a corresponding design on the back that can be personalized using the Design Tool and going to Layers. You’ll see a pop-up that will list the different paper types we have along with information for each such as an image, description, thickness, and weight to help you decide on one. While these are all great options, the Signature Matte is our most popular paper option.

When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with our 18 pt Matte paper. It has a standard uncoated matte finish and a natural feel to it to empower any design and color printed on this paper to pop making it the perfect paper type for invitations.
