Personalize this with the recipient's name. It's spring time, and this Canada goose had taken a short waddle away from her flock to splash and bathe in the blue water of the river. Soon she will find a mate, build a nest and lay her eggs. Canada geese are vigilant and protective parents. It's not wise to approach geese who have babies as these waterfowl are feisty and ferocious when protecting their young, they peck and bite and their muscular wings are strong enough break bones. Canada geese mate for life, unless one partner dies, then the other soon finds someone else. A couple's relationship is vital for this swimming birds as male and female Canada geese have specific parental roles when caring for the eggs and the newborn goslings. For instance, when mother goose is on the nest, the gander or male goose feeds her and watches over her and the eggs when she goes for a much needed dip. Incubation period for Canada geese is about four weeks. She will have about 4-6 babies. The cute yellow goslings can swim almost as soon as they're hatched. Both goose parents take care of the babies, and eventually join a larger flock, where several goose parents share babysitting duties. Canada geese are famous for their loud honking and V-shaped migration patterns. They breed in Canada and migrate south to the United States in winter. Some birds in warmer climes with plenty of water and food will stay all year round. Canada geese are a Canadian symbol and also symbolize family, loyalty or fidelity, abundance and protection.
