Casey Jones Railroad Engineer Postage 1950 Mug

Casey Jones Railroad Engineer Postage 1950 Mug

From www.railphotoexpress.biz; Jonathan Luther "John" "Casey" Jones (March 14, 1863 – April 30, 1900)from Jackson, Tennessee, was an American railroader who worked for the Illinois Central Railroad (IC). He was killed on April 30, 1900 when his train collided with a stalled freight train near Vaughan, Mississippi. His dramatic death while trying to stop his train and save the lives of his passengers made him a hero; he was immortalized in a popular ballad sung by his friend Wallace Saunders. Jones was also famous for his peculiar skill with the train whistle. His whistle was made of six thin tubes bound together, the shortest being half the length of the longest. Its unique sound involved a long-drawn-out note that began softly, rose and then died away to a whisper, a sound that became his trademark. The 1950 3¢ stamp honoring Casey Jones is dedicated to the railroad engineers of America.

This is a gorgeous mug that makes me feel as though I am outdoors in my Hosta garden, on a beautiful day in Spring! The printing is lovely and sharp just like my painting. I shall be displaying this mug at an exhibition soon!

My sisters and Mom and I love Christmas and the Holiday season in general, so I thought how perfect to be able to personalize one of our fave Holiday movies! They came out beautifully and my sisters and Mom were very touched! See for yourself in my picture attached! 2 out of 4 were Perfect! The printing turned out badly for 2 of 4 and they were also broken in shipping. Zazzle was amazing and shipped out 2 new replacements that were perfect!! So 4 out of 4 were perfect! Excellent customer service!!
