Castle of Santa Bárbara, Alicante, Spain Castle of Santa Bárbara (Spanish: Castillo d Santa Barbara, Valencian: Castell de Santa Bàrbara) is located on Benacanti bluff in the city of Alicante. The arid bluff overlooks the Alicante Harbor and the port of the city. It was built by the Moors in the 9th century and it was captured by Castilian forces in 1248. Aragonian troops besieged the castle and conquered it in 1296.
