La Catrina, known worldwide as Mexico's grand dame of death, is one of the most iconic representations of Mexican folklore. Ever present since the precolumbian era and immortalized by Jose Guadalupe Posadas with La Calavera Catrina or Calavera Garbancera in early 1900s, this image has become symbolic with the Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
