Celebrating the Skylab Program T-Shirt

The three areas of focus for Skylab were the Earth, the Sun and human physiology. Skylab also ushered in an awakening of our Earth and its environment This design illustrates not only the three crewed increments but pays homage to all the astronauts who served in support of the program The astronauts wore mustard brown flame retardant flight suits on orbit, so Earth tone colors were used throughout. Green was used for Skylab and the names of the Prime crews that flew the missions. Walt Cunningham the first Astronaut to serve as manager was the first manager of the Apollo Applications Program, so his name is ghost stitched in black under the letters “Sk” in Skylab. Bob Crippen, William Thornton and Karol "Bo" Bobko were the SMEAT crew. "Skylab Medical Experiment Altitude Test" was a 56 day simulation in a simulator at the Johnson Space Center to evaluate equipment and procedures. Rusty Schweikart, Bruce McCandless and Story Musgrave backed up the first crew and Vance Brand, Bill Lenoir and Don Lind backed up the second and third crews.The names of the backup crews appear in the inner ring and are stitched in the same brown as the fill for the outer ring. Hank Hartsfield and Dick Truly who served as support crew.Their names are ghost stitched in the inner ring.
