Chalcedonian Black Paper Plates

Set of eight 9” paper plates with an image of Chalcedonian black and gold circles with two griffins, mythological beasts, alternating with others that have a floral design. Chalcedon is located on a small peninsula on the north coast of the Sea of Marmara, near the mouth of the Bosphorus. There, Greek colonists from Megara in Attica founded the settlement of Chalcedon in 685 BC, some seventeen years before Byzantium. See matching coasters.
