The Chenonceau Castle in France or "Le Château des Dames" was built on a bridge across the river Cher. King Henry II gave it to his Favorite Diane de Poitiers. When he died in a tournament, his widow the queen Catherine de Medici forced Diane to give up Chenonceau for Chaumont sur Loire. This castle was shaped by women: Catherine Briçonney, Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Medici, Louise de Lorraine, Madame Dupin, Madame Pelouze. Photography by Minerva Bloom.
