Robert Louis Stevenson was the author of a 1905 book titled, “A Child’s Garden of Verses”. This is an illustration from the book done by Jessie Willcox Smith.
Jesse Willcox Smith, 1863-1935, was born in Philadelphia. She was an American illustrator famous for her work in magazines such as Ladies Home Journal and for her illustrations for children's books.
You have to look closely to see the young girl sitting in the middle of this beautiful garden as the tall stems of flowers tower over her. What a lovely spot to have all to yourself.
