Chouchin-obake (Paper Lantern Ghost) Postcard
This postcard features a cartoon drawing of a Chouchin-obake, a creature from Japanese mythology. The Japanese writing in the background is the word "chouchin-obake," which means "paper lantern ghost." The English text reads "Chouchin-obake: The Lantern Ghost," but you can change it to say whatever you wish it to! Just use the "Personalize it" box on the right, or click on "Customize it!" for more options.
The Chouchin-obake, or Chōchin-obake (提灯お化け, "paper lantern ghost"), is a type of tsukumo-gami (付喪神, "artifact spirit") in Japanese folklore. On a paper lantern's hundredth birthday, the lantern comes to life! Make sure you treat your possessions well!
