Christmas Carol Charles Dickens Traditional Plaid Throw Pillow

Christmas Carol Charles Dickens Traditional Plaid Throw Pillow

Christmas has nowadays become the pinnacle of crass commercialism that I often--reminiscent of Ebenezer Scrooge--think “Bah, humbag!” when it comes to celebrating the season. But Charles Dickens’ 1843 tale “A Christmas Carol” is a lovely, heartwarming story of redemption and repentance, a wonderful reminder of what Christmas really ought to be about. I think that the idea of the transformative power of love and charity is especially relevant in these times of turmoil and confusion. I put together this collage design celebrating a traditional Victorian Christmas with well-loved seasonal symbols: Santa Claus, Christmas tree, doll and sheep toys, Dove of Peace, singing angels or cherub trio, ribbons, bows and hollyhock. Classic plaid in holiday colors and stripes and ric rac trim in red, green and gold are used throughout. I added round frames in the shape of Christmas tree ornament balls, one containing a portrait of Dickens and a much-loved quote from that famous Christmas story: “I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.” Makes a wonderful gift for anyone who loves English literature, traditional celebrations and classic Christmas themes.

This is one of the most comfortable throw pillows I have ever had. It is so incredibly soft. Everyone in the family fights over who gets to use it, even the dog. Most of the other pillows end up on the floor when she gets on the couch but not this one. She loves it too! The photos turned out great on this pillow. I'd definitely purchase another one.
