The wisteria crest / In the Taika Reforms (645), the surname Fujiwara was given to Nakatomi no Kamatari as a reward for his cooperation with Emperor Tenji. The representative crest is 'Wisteria', but it did not come into use until the late Heian period. / It is a misconception to consider the 'Wisteria Circle' crest as the representative family crest of the Fujiwara clan, as it is based on a popular misconception (from 'Japanese Crests').
