(1940's and 50) He was originally part of the Jack-in-the-Box' comic line in the 40's and then latter got his own solo book outing when he moved to 'Charlton Comics'. He was presented as dopey and hapless in some strips and books, and more devious and a prankster in others (usually in the much earlier incarnations). As the character moved on through the decades he was drawn as much plumper and more lovable looking, very similar to "Porky Pig" in appearance. He is probably one of the most well-known among the many other comic book funny pigs (some people refer to them as "PORKY" 'knockoffs') of those colorful & fun comic book days.}
