A quirky T-Shirt with a Vintage Space Age commemorative Soviet envelope, featuring Belka and Strelka, "Day of Cosmonautics", Kharkov 1963. The two astronaut dogs, Belka and Strelka, spent a day in space aboard Korabl-Sputnik-2 (Sputnik 5) on August 19th 1960, before safely returning to Earth. They were accompanied by a grey rabbit, 42 mice, 2 rats, flies and a number of plants and fungi. All passengers survived. They were the first Earth-born creatures to go into orbit and return alive. I originally ordered a medium shirt which ended up being too small and the shirt material was very poor quality and thin. I was then sent a large and the t shirt material was completely different. I assume they made a mistake and sent the wrong t shirt originally (probably the “value shirt”) which also runs very small. This is my first time ordering from zazzle and, overall, they seem inconsistent but their customer service is excellent and I’m very happy with my final product. Seems like it will last but not dilated to fit the size of the shirt. (The size of the design is the same on an extra small as it is on an extra large.) I’m happy that it seems like it will hold up well in the wash, though!
