The karakasa-obake, also known as the kasa-obake or karakasa-kozo, may not have a major historical role in folklore, but has nevertheless become one of the most famous and iconic yokai monsters of Japan! This classic creature is an otherwise normal paper umbrella that has come to life after one hundred years! With one single eye and a long protruding tongue, this funny fellow hops on its single leg, following you through the darkness only to pop out at you and lick your face!
