Claude Monet - Cart on the Snowy Road at Honfleur Jigsaw Puzzle

A Cart on the Snowy Road at Honfleur (La Charrette. Route sous la neige à Honfleur), around 1867 - Claude Monet, oil on canvas. Claude Monet (Paris, 1840 - Giverny, 1926) was a French Impressionist painter. Monet painted this early winter landscape near Honfleur, on the road toward Trouville and the Ferme Saint-Siméon. The subject belongs to his experiments with snow several years before the first Impressionist exhibition. Instead of treating snow as a uniform white surface, he used subtle changes of tone to convey cold light and distance. The horse-drawn cart provides only a small human presence within the broad winter setting. The painting later passed through the collection of Isaac de Camondo before entering a public collection in 1911.
