Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant), 1872 - Claude Monet, oil on canvas. Claude Monet (Paris, 1840 - Giverny, 1926) was a French Impressionist painter. Monet painted this dawn view from a hotel window overlooking the outer harbor of Le Havre around November 1872. Quays, cranes and steamships dissolve into autumn mist, while a small orange sun and its reflection provide the strongest color. He showed the painting at the first independent group exhibition in 1874, calling it simply "Impression" because it could hardly pass for a view of Le Havre. Critic Louis Leroy mocked the exhibitors as "Impressionists" in his review; the name was soon reclaimed more positively by another critic. The work became an emblem of the movement it inadvertently helped name.

I wanted a tapestry fabric to drape over a large table. Real tapestry fabric and tapestries are VERY expensive. For a 140.00 investment I achieved the look very nicely. Actually looks better in person.
The tablecloth also came much earlier than I had expected. I had to blow up the pattern to fit a larger tablecloth and was concerned about the registration. It turned out quite well. Kind of pattern that adapts well.

I have to admit I was nervous as I read reviews after I had bought this and many said their items arrived with the print blurry or flawed in some way and many had reported that it was near impossible to return the item. So I thought I had made a huge mistake but my table cloth was in mint condition with the images clear and crisp.
