Claude Monet - Sailboat at Le Petit-Gennevilliers Jigsaw Puzzle

Sailboat at Le Petit-Gennevilliers (Voilier au Petit-Gennevilliers), 1874 - Claude Monet, oil on canvas. Claude Monet (Paris, 1840 - Giverny, 1926) was a French Impressionist painter. Le Petit-Gennevilliers lay across the Seine from Argenteuil and offered Monet another viewpoint on the same active stretch of river. In 1874 he was intensely occupied with boating subjects, bridges and reflections around the suburb. This composition isolates a single sailboat on broad water beneath a sky of scattered clouds lit yellow and blue by the low sun, whose colors are echoed in the reflections. The modest subject shows how Monet could turn everyday river traffic into an experiment in scale, reflected light and the visual instability of water.
