Claude Monet - Water Lilies Ceramic Tile

Water Lilies - The Two Willows (Les Nymphéas - Les Deux Saules), 1914-1926 - Claude Monet, oil on canvas. Claude Monet (Paris, 1840 - Giverny, 1926) was a French Impressionist painter. This close-up is taken from the largest composition of Monet's monumental water-lily ensemble. Four adjoining panels extend to about seventeen metres, creating a panoramic view of the pond without a central focal point, and two slender trunks interrupt the broad horizontal field near its edges. The detail shown here keeps only rippling lavender water and a scattering of white and pink lilies. The curved installation intensifies the feeling that the viewer is surrounded by water and reflection. Monet's late project transformed the Giverny pond from a garden motif into an immersive environment built from repeated color, surface and light.
