Claude Monet - Water Lilies Poker Cards

Water Lilies - Clear Morning with Willows (Le Matin clair aux saules), 1914-1926 - Claude Monet, oil on canvas. Claude Monet (Paris, 1840 - Giverny, 1926) was a French Impressionist painter. This close-up belongs to a monumental composition made from three adjoining panels, in which two large trunks punctuate the elongated field of water. The detail shown here keeps pale reflections of a milky morning sky, warm yellow light at the upper right, a few hanging willow branches and drifting lilies. Monet suppresses a conventional horizon and lets the pond extend laterally beyond the viewer's field of vision. The work forms part of the vast late water-lily cycle that he donated to the French state in 1922. Its scale and continuity were conceived to create an enveloping experience of water, reflection and changing light.
