This design features the Australian coat of arms. Australia is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands. Australia's capital is Canberra, and its largest city is Sydney. The country's other major urban areas are Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. The coat of arms of Australia, officially called the Commonwealth Coat of Arms, is the formal symbol of the Commonwealth of Australia. A shield, depicting symbols of Australia's six states, is held up by a kangaroo and an emu, which are both animals native to Australia. The seven-pointed Commonwealth Star above the crest also represents Australia's states and territories, while various floral emblems appear below the shield.
