Color Wheel - Primary, Secondary & Tertiary Colors Keychain

The color wheel was invented in 1666 by Isaac Newton, who mapped the color spectrum onto a circle. The color wheel is the basis of color theory because it shows the relationship between colors. Color theory is a practical combination of art and science that’s used to determine what colors look good together. There are 12 main colors on the color wheel (not always named as they are on this design but they are the same hues). Red, yellow and blue are the primary colors, green, orange and violet are the secondary colors, and the combinations of adjacent primary and secondary are tertiary colors.
