Colorful Queen Anne Revival Houses, Vermont Postcard
"Colorful Queen Anne Revival Houses in Vermont" by Catherine Sherman
A quaint residential street in Lyndonville, Vermont, is lined with colorful houses boasting well-manicured lawns under a blue sky dotted with wispy clouds. A striking yellow house with white trim commands attention at the front, while the changing leaves of the trees and shrubs reveal their autumn foliage.
These brightly hued Queen Anne Revival Houses face Bandstand Park on Lyndonville's town common.
In the New World, Queen Anne Revival was a historicist architectural style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was popular in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries.
These architecturally significant 19th Century homes, sometimes known as the Painted Ladies, add to the charm of Bandstand Park, which features a bandstand, sculptured fountain and grass lawns. Man of these houses were designed by Lambert Packard and built during the last half of the 19th century. Some of the houses surrounding the park were built by railroad officers.
The village of Lyndonville, incorporated in 1880, is located within the Town of Lyndon, which was founded in 1780. Lyndon is in Vermont's beautiful rural "Northeast Kingdom" in Caledonia County. The town is six square miles of rolling green hills and valleys on both sides of the Passumpsic River.

I joined Postcrossing a few months ago and wanted postcards to represent my state well. I found them on Zazzle. I purchased numerous cards and was impressed with all of them. Excellent! The colors are beautiful. The cards have the exact look I wanted. I couldn't be happier.
