Commander in Chief's Guard Coffee Mug

Commander in Chief's Guard Coffee Mug

On March 10, 1776, General George Washington, commander-in-chief of the Continental Army issued an order to select a number of exemplary men as a guard for himself. As the United States entered its third century, the 3d Infantry Regiment organized a replica the Guard to honor this historically famous unit. Among the 66-man company as prescribed by the Revolutionary War General Baron Friederich Von Steuben, there is 1 captain,1 lieutenant, 3 sergeants, 3corporals and 58 privates, and a color team of 1 ensign and 5 corporals -bearing the replica of the flag of Washington’s headquarters. The rest of the soldiers carry a 12-pound replica of the British Brown Bess musket. the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard was known semi-officially as “His Excellency’s Guard” and popularly as “Washington’s Life Guard” and “Washington’s Body Guard.” The original Commander-in-Chief's Guard, from which Company A claims nominal lineage, was authorized on March 11, 1776, and organized the next day at Cambridge, Massachusetts as the bodyguard and personal escort to Gen. George Washington.

It is a lovely mug. The actual mug is shiny and smooth. Very nice quality. It was everything I expected. Zazzle has so many nice mid century modern designs to choose from. All so pretty! The design was very clear and looked expensive.
