It is Britains most south-westerly point and one of its most iconic landmarks, famous for the iconic signpost marking the 874-mile distance to John O'Groats. Longships lighthouse is an automated, unpainted granite tower built by Trinity House in 1875. It was automated in 1988 and is now powered by solar energy.
