"Are you girls handicapped?" The grumpy, nosy old man was shouting at the two girls from across the gas station parking lot in dusty Socorro, New Mexico. His busy-body legs drove him closer to them at an alarmingly rapid pace. They froze and stared at him with annoyance. "Because one of you better be," he continued. "You're parked in a handicapped spot. So which one of you is handicapped?" The girls started to back toward their car. "That's what I thought," he said, triumph in his voice.
