Cut-and-Sew Kevin the (Very Cute) Kraken Fabric

Meet Kevin! Kevin is a sewing project for almost-beginner sewers, and can be stitched by hand or by machine (he will need to have his final seam finished by hand). To make Kevin, order a fat quarter of his fabric, then cut him out and start sewing! He can be stuffed with the cut-up offcuts of the fabric for the pattern, but you will need to add more stuffing as well such as fabric stuffing or clean rags. Please note that your completed Kevin is not flame retardant, and may be unsuitable for small children and infants. Now with Stacey Starfish! Stacey is an even simpler cut-and-sew project. Just cut her out between the white and gray outlines, and place the right (image) sides together. Sew around by hand or machine so the stitching is between the white seam allowance and the image, leaving a gap of about five centimeters. Clip the edges all around, from the outside up to the stitched line, being careful not to cut the stitching. Turn right side out through the hole, and stuff with something appropriate (specialist fabric stuffing, cut-up clean rags, even lentils or dried peas (to make a beanbag), lavender (for a drawer-scenter and moth-repellant) or dried whole grains of rice, wheat, or barley (to make a heat bag).

I helped my 8 year old granddaughter cut and sew this fire truck for her toddler brother. It was a very easy first sewing project for her. Our 6 year old granddaughter also made one with a little more assistance with cutting. Cute! Our 8 year old did this herself. An adult could finish a little more professional but this is the creation of an 8 year old!
